Welcome to the Metal Librarian website. This website is dedicated to all things metal music, and libraries! We are going to go ahead and jump right in, and present to you a new book coming out on July 16, 2019.
More Life with Deth by David Ellefson.
Paperback: 304 pages
Publisher: Jawbone Press (July 16, 2019)
For those who do not know, David Ellefson is one of the founding members of the Grammy-winning thrash metal band, Megadeth. Megadeth have gone on to sell thirty million albums worldwide for over thirty-five years now. I’m personally a pretty big fan of Megadeth myself over the years, and excited to read this, continuation of his 2013 memoir titled, My Life With Deth. In this publication, Ellefson continues to chronicle his time in Megadeth from when he actually left the band in the 2000s, and his return in 2010 and the subsequent tours and albums the band has done in the last decade.
One of the interesting tidbits contained within the book is information regarding the “Big 4” concerts that took place a few years ago. For those who do not know, the “Big 4” are a group of influential thrash metal bands from the early 1980’s, including Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax, and Slayer. These bands have pretty much influenced most metal bands since, and put thrash metal on the map. I’ve always respected Ellefson’s playing in Megadeth, with his distinct pic-struck bass lines, that really beef up the Mustaine-led riffs.
This sounds like an interesting book to read that’s coming out over the summer, and I recommend that you ask your local public library to purchase it for their collection! Public libraries like to receive feedback on specific titles that are coming out soon. Again, this is the first post of many here on Metal Librarian, so stay tuned, and horns up!
